Ethel Florence Kesmar, affectionately known to friends and family as Vega, passed away on January 5th, 2011 at the age of 99 after a brief illness. She was a remarkable lady, always cheerful with a smile on her face. She made others laugh. Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, she married John Joseph Kesmar and at the age of 41 gave birth to her only child, Jean. Vega spent her adult life as a housewife and mother. She was passionate about her one and only hobby, that of completing crossword puzzles. She spent a large portion of her married life in Livonia, Michigan, and her remaining years in South Florida where she lovingly helped to raise her only granddaughter, Erica. Vega is survived by her daughter, Jean and her loving granddaughter, Erica, both of Wellington, Florida; a niece, Lynette Washington and her husband, Ronnie Washington, and two great nephews, Ronald Norman Washington and Matthew Washington, all of Jacksonville, Florida. Vega's desire was to live to be 100 years old and appear on the Smucker's Birthday Announcements aired by The Today Show. Visitation will be 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Palms West Funeral Home. A service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Palms West Funeral Home.
