Erland Derrick Blake, a skilled tailor and cherished business owner, passed away on March 27, 2024, at the age of 89, surrounded by his loving family, after bravely facing lymphoma. Born on January 2, 1935, in the serene parish of St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, Erland's journey was marked by dedication and entrepreneurial spirit. His talents as a tailor were renowned, both in his homeland and in his adopted home of Florida, where he continued to weave his craft with precision and passion. In Riviera Beach, Florida, he established a thriving grocery store, where his warmth and generosity endeared him to the community. Erland's life was a testament to resilience and love. Despite facing the loss of his son Tony and numerous siblings, including Vivian, Alice, Lurline, Joseph, Laura, Cislyn, Leslie, Louise, Hyacinth, and Ida, he remained steadfast in his commitment to family. He is survived by his children Trevor, Marlene, Donald (Clive), Thelma (Gaye), Howard, and his sister Ina. Among his greatest joys were his grandchildren, whom he adored beyond measure: Trevor (TJ), Derrick, Ryan, Andrew, Donique, Geordon, Chris, Derrae, DeLa, Cyril, Frank, and Camden. His heart swelled with pride at the mention of his greatgrandchildren: Nathan, London, Kingston, Fiona, Aries, Aria, and the eagerly awaited Sage. Erland Derrick Blake leaves behind a legacy of love, perseverance, and kindness. His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his spirit will continue to inspire generations to come.
