Mr. Emilio Gomez Alvarez passed away on Sunday, August 18th, 2024. He was 67 years old. He had a long and tough battle with pulmonary fibrosis for 3 years. Emilio was born in Santa Cruz del Quiche, Guatemala on October 11th, 1956. Emilio was born to Luisa Alvarez, mother, and Manuel Gomez, father. He attended school in Guatemala during the night and completed his GED. He arrived in New York in 1993, where lived most of his life. He moved to Florida in February of 2022 and he spent the rest of his life surrounded by family members. For most of his life here in the states, he worked in the culinary field as a salad prep and cook, but passion was to become a pastry chef which he accomplished at the East Wind Hotel in Long Island. He loved to cook family meals and bake along with his granddaughter, listening to music, and visit family members and friends. He was an affectionate, dedicated, and hardworking individual who always put the needs of others ahead of his own. His personality brought warmth and joy to everyone he encountered and his passing will be mourned deeply by everyone who knew and loved him. His memory will remain in the hearts of his family, friends and all those who were honored to have the privilege of knowing him. His legacy will live on for many years to come. He is survived by Luciana Perez de Gomez his wife of 46 years, Maria Luisa Gomez, daughter, Cesar Gomez, son, Liliana Martinez, daughter, Emily Ambrocio, granddaughter, Marielis Ambrocio, granddaughter, and Cristian Gomez, Grandson. There will be a mass memorial held at Immaculate Conception Church at 580 Main Street, Westhampton Beach NY, 11978 on September 7th, 2024 at 1pm. There will also be a prayer service at 25 County Road 51 East Moriches NY 11940 on September 8th, 2024 at 5pm. The Gomez family is accepting donations to honor his memory and to fund his final resting place. Tuvo una larga batalla contra la fibrosis pulmonar por 3 años. Emilio nació en Santa Cruz del Quiché, Guatemala el 11 de Octubre 1956. Emilio es hijo de Luisa Álvarez, madre, y Manuel Gómez, padre. Asistió a la escuela nocturna en la ciudad capital de Guatemala. Llegó a Nueva York en el año 1993, donde vivió la mayor parte de su vida. Se mudó a Florida en Febrero 2022 donde pasó el resto de su vida junto a familiares. Ya en los Estados Unidos, trabajó como preparador de ensaladas y cocinero, pero su pasión era la repostería lo cual logró en el restaurante de East Wind en Long Island. Le encantaba cocinar comidas familiares y hornear junto a su nieta, también le gustaba escuchar música y visitar a familiares y amigos. El era una persona afectuosa, dedicada y trabajadora que siempre ponía las necesidades de los demás ante las suyas propias. Su personalidad trajo calidez y alegría a todos los que conoció y todos los que lo conocieron y amaron lamentarán profundamente su fallecimiento.
