passed away (April 20, 2007) at home in Wellington, Florida. Born in Hartford, CT on August 15, 1923 to the late Vincenzo and Concetta (Strano) Uccello. Manny is survived by his wife Dorothy (O'Hare) of 57 years, son Paul Uccello of Old Saybrook, CT, son Brian and wife Jan Uccello of The Woodlands, TX. Manny is also survived by his five grandchildren, Shannon Uccello of Middletown, CT, Patrick Uccello of Boca Raton, FL, Paul Uccello of Farmington, CT, Nicholas Uccello of College Station, TX, and Allison Uccello of The Woodlands, TX. He is also survived by one brother Salvatore Uccello of West Yarmouth MA, and Fort Myers, FL, and predeceased by two sisters Joann Uccello, and Lucy Bianco. Manny was a WWII Navy veteran serving aboard the U.S.S. Chikaskia, AO 54 during the Pacific campaign from the Gilbert and Marshall Islands to Iwo Jima and Okinawa, and was anchored in Tokyo Bay during the final surrender ceremonies. After the war he served as a deck officer aboard the Grinnell Victory on the New York to Liverpool run, studied Art History at the University of Florence, then sailed as the assistant purser on the S.S. United States. By 1958 he and Dorothy became involved in raising and showing registered Quarter Horses, developing Mandor Farm in Vernon, CT by 1962. He became President of the New England Quarter Horse Association, then formed and was elected the first President of the Connecticut Quarter Horse Association. Manny was then appointed as the first New England Director to the American Quarter Horse Association in Amarillo, TX. In 1990 he retired to Wellington, FL, becoming active in several municipal board positions, and was the current President of the Wellington Place Homeowners Association.
