Elena Rico Alvarez-Theis

Elena Rico Alvarez-Theis passed in peace on Saturday, March 14, 2015, after a short battle with cancer. She lived 74 beautiful years. Born in Havana, Cuba, Elena came to the United States at the young age of 17 with her husband, Rogelio Luis Alvarez (deceased). She found her second love of her life, Michael W. Theis and they were together 40 years. Elena was a beautiful woman inside and out and touched many hearts in many ways. Elena is survived by her husband, Michael W. Theis, her son Roy Emilio Alvarez of Royal Palm Beach, her daughter, Eileen Alvarez Vargosko of Charlotte, NC and two step children Sean and Dane Theis. She had three amazing grandchildren, Amy Alvarez Marante (Nestor), Roy "RJ" Emilio Alvarez, Jr and Jacob Tyler Vargosko. She is further survived by her brother, Juan Rico Baez, beloved daughter-in-law, Susan Nevad Alvarez, many cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends we call "family". May she dance the night away! Elena's "Celebration of Life" will be on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at 2:00 pm at The Cuban-American Club 886 Pike Road in West Palm Beach. In Lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to the St. Jude Children's Hospital which was dear to her heart.
