Eileen E. Colgrove, age 84, died on May 21 and returned to her heavenly home. Her devotion to her family and faith supported her in health struggles and ultimately gave her peace. Eileen was born in Buffalo, New York to the late Edward Skimmer and Beatrice Schuler on August 25, 1931. Eileen graduated from Saint Nicholas Academy making lifelong friends that she enjoyed reconnecting with at local reunions. She started her career at Worthington as a secretary and was a freelance writer for the Courier Express. Starting a family, she married Norman Colgrove in 1952 and they celebrated 50 golden years before his passing in December 2002. After moving to Florida in 1986, she enjoyed a 22 year career as a customer service representative at the Palm Beach Post, winning the hearts of her co-workers and anyone she came into contact with. A true example of Christian character, she will be remembered as a loyal friend with a gentle spirit of kindness and compassion who would help others selflessly. She was a faithful member of St. Gabriel's of Elma, New York, St. Luke's of Palm Springs, Florida, later Holy Name of Jesus in West Palm Beach and most recently Mary Immaculate Catholic Church. Eileen is survived by her children, Suzanne (Rico Favaro), Michael, John, (Vivian), and Joanne (Brian LeBrun), her brother Robert Skimmer (Phyllis), 9 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren along with extended family and friends that will miss her dearly.
