Edward Charles Tonna, age 83 was born in New York City on August 2, 1938; he passed away on March 28, 2022 at the Trustbridge Hospice Facility in West Palm Beach, Florida. He is survived by his wife Peggy, his children Anna Lorraine Tonna-Brown (Steve), Lawrence, Gregory (Lewann). His granddaughters Laura and Lindsey. He is the son of Emmanuel and Carmela Tonna from Malta; his brothers Charles now deceased, and his wife Jane and nephew Richie (Vickie); his brother George now deceased, and his wife Vivian, and nephews Cristina and James. Edward graduated in 1956 from Immaculata High School in Manhattan. He served in the New York State Army National Guard 42nd Infantry Division, known as the "Rainbow Division", with the rank of SP 4, between 1960-1964 for which he received an Honorable Discharge. He worked for the US Post Office, and American Airlines in New York City; he continued in the hospitality sector in Dominican Republic and in Florida, ending his working career at the Broward County Transit (BCT). He briefly retired to Spain with his wife Peggy, returning to Florida and settling first in Northport, then in Royal Palm Beach. He was an avid reader, traveler, square dancer and sports fan, always rooting for his favorite teams from his native New York City. A celebration of life service will be held on 1:00 P.M. Saturday April 2, 2022, at the Palms West Funeral Home.
