Edna Ionie Toyloy, nee Chen went home to Heaven on Sunday, Jan 14, 2024. Edna, daughter of Gladys Watson (deceased) and Albert Chen (deceased) was born in Dean Pen, St Mary, Jamaica on August 1, 1927. Edna was married to Karl Toyloy (deceased) for 20 years. She spent several years working for Martin's Tours and Travel in Kingston. During her time in Jamaica, Edna loved to dance to Byron Lee and the Dragonaires and the vocals of Keith Lynn. She emigrated to New York in 1968 where she worked in the accounting departments of Rafael Fashions, Keefe, Bruyette & Woods and JP Morgan Chase among other companies. During her time in New York City, she would seize the opportunity on every holiday and birthday to make a sumptuous meal and invite family and friends from the area. Edna's home was modest, warm and welcoming and never too small for any family member or friend who needed to spend the night. She was especially fond of and grateful to her older brothers Oswald and Ivan. In her own way, Edna made each of her nieces and nephews feel special. Edna retired in 1990 and subsequently moved to South Florida where she enjoyed the company of many cousins in addition to her immediate family. Edna loved traveling and was able to spend significant time in China, the birthplace of her father. In her later years Edna was lovingly cared for by several Caregivers, her children and son-in-law Edward. Edna was blessed and able to live a complete life. Edna is survived by children Basil (Rosalinda), Angela (Edward) and Lorna (George). She is also survived by grandchildren Brian, Nicole, Michelle, Kevin, Nastasia and Malena and great grandchildren Kaylah, Kylie, Krista, Nyah and Payton. Edna is also survived by sisters Lydia and Cecille, brothers Carl (Janet) and George (Sandra), sisters-in-law Yee Lun, Sue Fong, Shiela, Sandra and brother-in-law Danny. She is also survived by the following nieces and nephews: Paul, Loriann, Michael, Patrick, Christopher, Wendy, Joan, Sharon, Sean, Carolyn, Linda, Suzie, Jacky, Donna, Sue, Steve and Lisa. She is also survived by many loving cousins and friends. She was pre-deceased by brothers Oswald, Ivan, Alfred and Cecil, sisters-in-law Leslyn, Joyce and Myrna and brothers-in-law Norman and Raymond.
