On October 18, 2023, Edith America Castro of Royal Palm Beach Florida passed away through Heaven's gates with her beloved husband Ambrosio by her side. Edith was born on March 3, 1942 in Matanzas Cuba. She had two birthdays as her birth certificate was dated April 3 due to the travel time it took in order to obtain the certificate. Edith was exiled from Cuba in 1965 and moved to Irvington, New Jersey. She met her husband of 47 years in Newark, New Jersey. Ambrosio and Edith were married on October 10, 1976. Edith was a very successful business woman as a beauty salon owner. She had a salon named Colony Beauty located on Wilson Avenue in Newark, New Jersey and upon moving to Florida opened Golden Sheers in West Palm Beach. Edith loved going to Key Largo and spending time on the water. Her grandkids were her heart and soul. She loved and cared for her family deeply. She was one of 10 children born to Zoila and Jose Abeledo. She was preceded in death by her two brothers Luis Abeledo and Jose "Pepe" Abeledo; sisters Carmen Mosquera, Olga Velasquez ,Yolanda Vazquez, and Nancy Nunez . Edith America Castro is survived by her husband Ambrosio, her one and only son Alexander Castro, daughter-in-law Melanie Castro, granddaughter Adriana, grandson Alexander, sisters Allita Valdes, Ester Maspoch and Miriam Abeledo, brothers-in-law Norberto Valdes and Roberto Nunez. As well as several nieces and nephews and many more family members that she loved and always looked after.
