Douglas Charles Bruscino

Douglas C. Bruscino, (Sensei) (Chef), but most importantly, son, grandson, husband, brother, father, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend to so many, has lost his courageous battle with Alpha-1 Antitrypsin on Tuesday May 3, 2016. He leaves behind, to mourn, love and miss him, his mom Mary, (he is predeceased by his father Dominic), his loving and devoted wife Lily, his beloved children Valmarie, Natalia, Michael and Julianna. His adoring sister Nicki Salter, (Daniel), his niece and nephew Victoria and Dominic, his mother-in-law Barbara, aunts, uncles and cousins. Doug was born in Long Island, New York July 22, 1966, his parents moved to Florida in 1977 when he was eleven. He met his soul mate and love of his life Lily when he was 11 and she was 12 and declared to me, "When I grow up I'm going to marry her", 28 years of marriage was his proof. Graduate of the Culinary Institute and proud to say he could cook 13 countries. Always a surprise of what exotic cuisine he was excited to make for us. Martial Arts was another passion, a Sensei, teaching Kendo and doing demos with the team whenever he could, until he physically was unable. 2009 was the year we all learned he had a genetic illness not too many people ever heard of, and the only cure is a transplant. He became a voice for Alpha-1 and tried to educate anyone who asked about it, including medical staff in the hospital on his many stays.
