Dorothy Eileen Aughey

Our beautiful mother Dorothy E Aughey, 98 years old of East Islip, NY and Miramar Fla, passed away November 28, 2022 in her home with her family at her side. She was born to the late Frank and Catherine Drab December 11, 1923, in East Islip, NY. Dorothy graduated from East Islip High School and went to Browns Business College. She worked for the New York Railroad working on the comptometer daily. She was married to the late John P Aughey on April 15, 1950 where they lived in New York. They moved to Brooksville, Florida and then onto Ireland before eventually settling in Miami Beach. She is survived by her daughter Patricia Omran, son-in-law Mohamed and granddaughter Annissa. Her daughter Aileen Banky. Her son Seamus and grandson Mackenzie. Her daughter Kathleen and granddaughter Juliana. Her daughter Tara, son in law Dan and grandson Danny. Her daughter Maureen. Also by her grandchildren Kieran, Siobhan and Desmond. Dorothy will be most remembered for her perseverance, calm nature, and gentle spirit. A joy to all who met her, she had a personality and smile that could light up any room. Many days were spent singing along to old musicals with her granddaughter Annissa, laughing with her daughter Patrica, and going on picnics with loved ones. She always made her famous cranberry sauce every Thanksgiving and was sure to pass down recipes and traditions to her family who have been more than happy to continue her legacies. She will be missed by all lucky enough to have had her in their lives and will be held in the hearts and minds of her family forever.
