Doris Fay Smith

May 8, 1925 — December 10, 2024

Doris Fay Smith, 99, was born on May 8, 1925, in Miami, Florida and passed December 10, 2024, in Royal Palm Beach, Florida. Beloved mother, grandmother and friend, Doris (Mawmaw), passed away peacefully just shy of her 100th birthday. She was an inspiration to those she touched, always encouraging others to embrace family, support one another and love God. She was preceded in death by her husband (George E. Smith), brother (Clyde Davis), son (Butch Smith), three grandchildren and one great grandchild. She is survived by three children Jerri Bluhm, Richard Smith (Sheila), Karen Hays (Roy) and daughter-in-law Julie Smith. In addition to her children, Doris is survived by 13 grandchildren (& their respective spouses), 42 great grandchildren (& their respective spouses) and 36 great-great grandchildren. Doris was a lifetime member of the WPB Seventh Day Adventist Church. There she served as treasurer, committee member and health food store manager. She fought a good fight enduring challenges, changes, triumphs and losses through the years while remaining faithful to God. Sewing was both a profession and hobby for Doris. She worked at Rayside Interiors for years as a specialty seamstress. She spent time at home sewing and making clothes for her children and grandchildren. In her retired years, she often worked on sewing projects with her daughters, creating a legacy of love in her name. Doris and George were known and well-liked residents of a community known as Westgate for over 30 years. This is where they built, owned and operated Smitty's Auto Service (an automotive mechanic shop located on Westgate Ave). As office manager and bookkeeper, Doris had an important role in the success of the family business. One is only gone when others no longer share the memories they hold of that individual. God blessed her with a long, happy, healthy life and blessed us with endless memories to share with one another assuring she will always be close to our hearts. Per her wishes, there will be no services held. A Celebration of Life may be held at a later date. Please feel free to share memories, thoughts and prayers with the family on this site.
