Don Walker, 89 years young, died on March 7th in his son's home in Florida surrounded by family. A memorial service will be held at Palms West funeral home in Royal Palm Beach, Florida on March 19th. The service will be followed by a military honor salute and burial of ashes at the South Florida, National Military Cemetery in Lake Worth, Florida. Born in Cheyenne, WY in April of 1930, Don was raised in Grand Junction, CO and Laguna Beach, CA. He attended Orange County Community College and the University of Arizona before joining the Air Force in 1951. He was honorably discharged in 1954 and moved to Denver, CO where he lived his remaining 65 years. Don was an avid surfer in his youth and maintained that laid back, friendly disposition his entire life. At 5'8" tall, he was the shortest player on his college basketball team but, according to him, was the best looking. He always had time for a conversation and was always positive with something nice to say to everyone. As his friends and family would say, "He was one of the good guys". He is survived by two sons, John and Don Jr, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Ruth and Ralph Walker, two brothers, Ed and Bobbie and two sisters, Betty and June.
