Donald J. Marksz

Donald "Don" Marksz, a talented artist, proud Marine, and devoted family man, passed away at the age of 78. He leaves behind a legacy of creativity, community impact, and deep devotion to those he loved.

Born to be a creator, Don studied at Kent State before channeling his vision into beautiful craftsmanship as an award-winning artist, silversmith, and jeweler. Underneath his tough Marine Corps Sergeant exterior—forged during his voluntary service in the Vietnam War—lay a remarkably kind, generous soul and a razor-sharp, dry wit. He was a man who showed his love through action, whether he was sponsoring and coaching athletic teams or quietly funding philanthropic acts across his community.

Nothing mattered more to Don than his family. He shared 50 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Lynne Marksz. He was a guiding force for his son, Zack, and a proud grandfather to Theodore. He is also survived by his siblings: Alexander, Sharlyne, his twin sister Diane, Patricia, Robert, Christopher, and Gabrielle. Don is now reunited with his son, Justin, whose memory he fiercely honored in life by lobbying for the passage of the Justin Marksz Teen Safety Act, a major Florida bill that added hands-on, behind-the-wheel safety training for first-time drivers.

When he wasn't creating art or advocating for others, Don could be found collecting classic cars, casting a line while fishing, going on spontaneous "adventures" with his family, or walking his loyal German Shepherds, Max and Grizzly.

A celebration of life will be held on Sept. 17th at 11am at St. Rita’s with the interment to follow at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery. Flowers and expressions of sympathy may be directed to St. Rita’s in Wellington, FL.
