Donald E. Ley

May 13, 1932 — July 13, 2022

Donald "Don" Edward Ley, 90, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, in West Palm Beach, Florida. Born in Tipton County, Indiana, Don was the son of the late Edward and Eleanor Ley. He was the second of seven children born to Ed and Eleanor. After serving in the Army in Korea he returned home to manage gas stations in Huntington, Ind. and Fort Wayne, Ind. After moving to Palm Beach County, Fla. in the 1970's, he worked at the Pelican Car Wash in North Palm Beach, Fla., where his friendly, professional demeanor made him a popular fixture for many years. If you asked Don what he did he would say "he ran gas stations". He was a lifelong baseball fan, and his passion for America's National Pastime was passed on to his two sons. Above all he was a faithful Christian, husband, and father whose legacy will live on in the lives of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed. He leaves behind his beloved wife Sandra (Robertson), with whom he shared fifty-four years of marriage; son Stephen (Shannon) of West Palm Beach, Fla.; son Philip (Teresa) of Baltimore, Maryland; grandchildren Samuel Ley, Benjamin Ley, and Madeline Ley; siblings, Dorothy Stetzel of Roanoke, Ind., Betty Hammond of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Robert Ley of Queen Creek, Arizona, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Joan Robel; Marilyn Nagaich; and James Ley. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at 12:30 PM at Palms West Funeral Home with viewing at 11:00 AM. Burial with military honors will follow at South Florida National Cemetery. The family requests that donations be made in Donald's memory to Hobe Sound Bible College in Hobe Sound Florida. "Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.'" (John 11:25)
