Donald Charles Andrews, 82, of Royal Palm Beach, Florida, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2011. Born in Poughkeepsie, New York, he was the son of Eric and Lolita (Kinsey) Andrews. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army stationed in Japan during the WWII occupation. He and his wife, Alicia (Lee), who he met at a very young age at their mothers bridge club, were married in July 1948 at LaGrangeville Methodist Church in New York. After working for several building contractors, he went on to start his own carpentry business before moving to Florida in 1979 where he and his wife spent their retirement. Don's memberships included: LaGrange Fire Department Station One, Billings, New York; Elks Club 1352 and Moose Lodge 1461 both in West Palm Beach, Florida. His home-away-from-home was the Palm Beach Gardens Golf Course where he was known as Mr. Fix-it. He was an avid golfer, winning the club championship at Dogwood Knolls Golf Course in Hopewell Junction, New York. He also enjoyed bowling, archery, wood working and spending time with his family. Donald's memory will be cherished by his loving wife of 62 years, Alicia (Shaffer) Andrews; children, Donna Andrews, Chuck (Deborah) Andrews and Susan Wright; grandchildren, Cynthia (Marc) Scarcella, Stephen Andrews and Michele Andrews; great grandchildren, Brielle, Jack and Elsie; sister-in-law, Madeline Andrews; and a host of nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held 12pm to 2pm on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at Palms West Funeral Home, 110 Business Park Way, Royal Palm Beach, Florida 561-753-6004. He will be laid to rest with Military Honors at the family plot in Palms-Robarts Memorial Park, Sarasota, Florida at 11am, Wednesday, May 18, 2011.
