Our hearts were broken on the morning of Sept 7th, 2020 when the Lord claimed our beloved father, Dimas Garcia at the age of 80 yrs. He lost his last battle at his home in West Palm Beach, Fl. Dimas was born in March of 1940 to parents Marcelino Garcia and Hermenehilda Echevarria. He graduated from Catholic University of Puerto Rico in 1974 with a degree in Business Administration. He moved his family to Massachusetts a month later and accepted a position as a social worker for the State of Massachusetts where he worked for over 10 years. He moved to Puerto Rico and taught Elementary English and then moving to Florida to continue his work as a social worker. Dimas was a devoted family man and a loving father. He lived in New York in late 50's where he had his first daughter Milagros. He married Daisy Fuentes in 1963 and had five daughters together, including Luz Esmeralda Garcia, who died in infancy. His passion was music, both song writing and singing. He was called "La Voz Diamante", "The Diamond Voice" by many of the friends and admirers that were lucky enough to hear him sing. He wrote hundreds, maybe thousands of poems and songs. Perhaps the best glimpse of who he was a man is best said by his own words. He is survived by his 2 brothers Marcelino Garcia Jr. Ramon "Chin" Garcia and his wife Toñita Garcia of Puerto Rico. Five daughters; Milagros Garcia of Massachusetts, Maria Garcia, Evelyn Garcia-Torres & husband Felix Torres, Margaret Garcia & Enidza Garcia of Florida. 16 Grandchildren: Juan C Capeles, Rene A Capeles, Michael García, Monica García, Jose Lopes, Alex Lopes, Edwin Mendez Jr, Daniel Mendez, Ricky Mendez, Jasmine García, Enrique Poveda, Justin Gorbutt, Adonis Sevilla, Mathew Sevilla, Israel Sevilla, Leo Sevilla and 12 Great-Grandchildren: Kael, Edalis, Juan Misael, Amayah , Chloe, Caleb, Edwin III, Zoey, Tiana, Zachary, Haley, Wesley. He was loved by his children and everyone who knew him. Forever in our hearts.
