On December 10, 2022, Officer Dennis Castro of the Boynton Beach Police Department tragically and unexpectedly passed away at the age of 38. Dennis was born on December 5, 1984, to Dennis and Zoraida Castro in Miami, FL. He became a big brother to his sister Denise in 1986. The family lived in New Jersey and relocated back to Miami in 1992, and subsequently Palm Beach County in 1998. Dennis graduated from Santaluces High School in 2003. Dennis was set on joining the United States Marine Corps and enlisted once he graduated high school. He honorably served seven years in the United States Marine Corps, including a tour of duty in the Middle East. He was a true American hero with a love for God and Country. In between his military and police career Dennis met his beautiful and amazing wife, Pamela. They married in June 2010 and had their son, Milo in April 2012 and little girl, Zinnia in May 2019. Dennis was a dedicated husband and father to his family. He spent his time off from work coaching Milo in baseball and doing what his princess wanted to do. If Dennis wasn't in his garage working on a new project, he was usually out by the pool attempting to master his big green egg grill. Dennis was a family man and always enjoyed making plans with his family. He was an avid Jets fan, a car enthusiast, and proud Boricua. Dennis began his career as a police officer with the Boynton Beach Police Department in 2008 where he was a 14-year distinguished Officer of the department and served as a Traffic Homicide Investigator, a member of the SWAT Team, and part of the city's DUI Task Force. Throughout his career he was honored numerous times and received several commendations for his exemplary service to the Boynton Beach community. In addition to his accolades from the department, he was voted Officer of the Year by the Palm Beach County Commission's Victim Services and Rape Crisis Center in 2021. The rank of Police Sergeant was posthumously given to Dennis. Dennis was a man of faith, courage, passion, honor, strength, humility, and pride. His professionalism, disciple, kindness, friendship, and sense of humor was unmatched. He will be sincerely missed by all that have had the privilege of knowing him. Dennis was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Juan and Zonia Rivera, and paternal grandfather Genaldo Castro. He is survived by his loving wife Pamela, and their two children, Milo and Zinnia. He is also survived by his parents, Dennis and Zoraida Castro, sister, Denise Weihs (Matthew), and paternal grandmother, Olga Flores. In addition, he leaves behind his three nieces, two nephews, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and his many brothers and sisters in blue. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Christ Fellowship Church, 801 N. Congress Ave. Boynton Beach, FL 33426.
