Dennis Francis Hayes, 82, died on April 18 in West Palm Beach, FL. Dennis was born in Jersey City, NJ, on April 16, 1942. He lived mostly in Maywood, NJ as a child and was graduated from Bogota High School. Dennis worked his way through college and was graduated from New Jersey Institute of Technology with a B.S. of Mechanical Engineering and a M.S. degree with an emphasis on management and marketing. His first professional job was as an application engineer with Worthington Corporation in Harrison, NJ. After leaving there he worked several jobs in New Jersey before being hired in 1975 as a field sales engineer for Elliott Company of Jeannette, PA, in the NJ office. In 1990 he was employed by Dresser Roots in Connersville, IN, where he served as district sales engineer for the Northeast United States and Canada. His final position there was national sales manager for large centrifugal compressors. He retired in 2007. Dennis lived in Montvale, NJ, for 32 years before moving to Trumbull, CT, for 12 years. He and his wife moved to St. Augustine, FL, for 5 years and in the last year to West Palm Beach, FL. Dennis always regarded his home as his castle and maintained an efficient, well-groomed house. He was his own financial manager and watching the stock market kept him busy in retirement. He leaves this wife of 58 years, Karen T. Hayes of West Palm Beach, FL; his daughter, Marcia Jean Schels of Bolton Valley, VT; his son, Warren D. Hayes, Sr. and his wife, Holly Hayes, of West Palm Beach, FL; six grandchildren and his dog, Lucky. A Celebration of Life will be held in the lounge of Palomino Gardens Retirement Home on May 7 at 1:00 p.m. All residents and employees are invited to attend.
