Delmar Warrington Newman passed away surrounded by his immediate family at his daughter's home in West Palm Beach, Florida on Wednesday, November 25th 2015, at the age of eighty-six. Delmar was born on April 1, 1929 in Guys Hill, St. Catherine, Jamaica, the fourth child and only son to loving parents, Gwendolyn and Gilbert Newman. As a young man Delmar made a reputation for himself—his specialty was driving a truck, full of produce and market people up and down Devil's Race Course, a particularly torturous section of narrow mountain road, with absolutely no brakes! After owning his own truck for several years, Delmar purchased property and became a farmer in Springfield District, St. Catherine. Mr. Newman moved to Florida in the late 1960s and was a beloved member of the North Miami Seventh-day Adventist Church until his passing. In 2006 Mr. Newman moved back in Springfield, and he resumed his farming. He recently visited the United States, where he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of lymphoma. He is survived by his only child, daughter Delmarie Newman Butler; ex-wife and friend Nellie Stevens Newman; grandchildren Tristan William Maxwell Butler, and Alexa Angelique Delmarie Butler; his sisters Verma Dooley and Elaine Reynolds; his nieces Edie Mae Barrett Mills and Karleen Edwards; grandnieces Carrie Mills and Melissa Adeyeye; grandnephews Christopher, Kester, and Jeremy Edwards; great-grand nephew, Jayvan Graham and great-grand niece Sophia Adeyeye; a circle of cousins, and a host of other family and wonderful friends in Jamaica, Canada, England and the United States. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 12th at 12N at the Palms West Funeral Home, Royal Palm Beach, and Mr. Newman will be buried at the Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery, also in Royal Palm Beach.
