David B. Schaeffer was born in Aberdeen, South Dakota on February 16th, 1948, to Dorothy and Leonard Schaeffer. He grew up in Aberdeen until the family moved to San Diego, California in 1959. David is a graduate of San Diego State College with a BA in Business Administration and Labor Relations and proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. David leaves behind his beloved wife of 35 years, Connie Schaeffer, who loved him dearly and will miss him all the remaining days of her life. He is survived by his beloved daughter, CaryAnn Matson whom he was so proud of, his son-in law, Jeff Matson, his granddaughter, Emily Matson who has been the light of his life since her birth, and stepson, Richard Cardini, whom he loved as his own son and served as a father and role model since he was six years old. He is also survived by his brother Daniel and sister-in-law Patty Schaeffer, brother Dennis Schaeffer, brother-in-law Dr. Jerry Nadler and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. David had many friends and was a very friendly and loving man, always the first person to pitch in with help for anyone. He was an avid golfer and loved Padres baseball and the San Diego Chargers. David worked in the Airline Industry all his life beginning at PSA Airlines in San Diego up to retiring from his own company, Aero Resource, Inc. where he developed many lifetime friends and colleagues. Due to his untimely death, the family is requesting donations to MAAD, Mothers Against Drunk Drivers at Home - MADD. Services will be held at Palms West Funeral Home, 110 Business Park Way, Royal Palm Beach, Florida 33411 on Saturday, January 27, 2024, from 10am to 11:30am. A 1:00 pm luncheon will follow at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge located at 1200 Miner Road, Boynton Beach, FL 33426. A private burial will be held at the Veterans Memorial Park in Wellington, Florida on Wednesday, January 31, 2024.
