David Sparrow Rockwood, of Wellington, Florida passed away under the care of Hospice on January 25, 2025, having suffered another stroke at the age of 86. Born February 19, 1938, in Hollis, New York, Dave lived a life of strong faith, dedication, and love for his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all of those who had the privilege of knowing him, and we rejoice knowing that he is in the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Dave enlisted in the United States Coast Guard at age 19 and was honorably discharged as Aviation Electronicsman Second Class Petty Officer. He later graduated from the University of Florida in Gainesville with a B.S. degree in Business Administration. He earned a law degree and an M.S. in Financial Services as well as professional designations of Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), and Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA). He taught at Florida Trust School for 24 years and was named Florida Bankers Association Trust Banker of the Year for his continued leadership and service to the FBA and the Florida trust industry. He retired from Bank of America, formerly U.S. Trust Company in Palm Beach, Florida in 2009 on his 71st birthday. Dave is survived by his wife of 41 years, Georgeanne Gunter Rockwood of Wellington, Florida; daughters, Debra (Steven) Arbuthnot of Ocala, Florida, Karen (Richard) Roppel of Federal Way, Washington; sons, Benjamin (Ayslinn) Husebo of Mt. Dora, Florida, and Brian (Lisa) Husebo of Lake City, Florida; 14 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and sister, Barbara (Leonard) Kirkpatrick of Bradenton, Florida. Dave is predeceased by his mother, Mildred Campbell Rockwood of Easley, South Carolina, his sisters, Jacolyn (Alvin) Dark of Easley, South Carolina, Patricia (Charles) Kitchen of Perry, Georgia, and sister-in-law, Thelma (Rea) Gillmore of Leesburg, Florida. A private family service will be held Monday, February 24, 2025, at 1 pm at the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Florida.
