IN LOVING MEMORY OF DAVID AUSTIN KIRBY
David was Born in Staten Island New York on November 17th, 1993, one month later he and his parents moved to Florida due to Dads job transfer. When David was just 3 and a half years old, he was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. As devastating a disease as this is, his parents pursued every avenue to make his life a Happy one. Early on in his life David was an avid race car fan, he enjoyed many Nascar races, monster truck rallies, basically anything with an engine, wheels and speed caught his attention.
A few years later he was given a Make a wish trip to meet his idol Dale Earnhardt Jr. He was 11 years old. Throughout his life he met many Nascar drivers, going to many races which brought him great joy. Despite many obstacles due to his disease, he always maintained a positive outlook on Life. He accomplished a lot of things, one of them being state and local good will ambassador for the Muscular Dystrophy association. David and His parents participated in many Muscular Dystrophy Events, telethons, walkathons as well as Fire fighter/ MDA Chili cook offs and Golf tournaments. David and his parents worked tirelessly raising awareness for Muscular and Neuromuscular diseases
David consistently beat the odds Graduating high school with honors and briefly attended college. David had a great voice for Radio per one of his high school teachers; but he set his eyes on becoming a dispatcher for the fire Dept. Unfortunately, due to his physical limitations he was never able to make that dream a reality. David then turned his passion for Race cars into being a You tube creator "Slamming Gears with David". Fast forward a few years and many hospital visits later, He and his Best friend Austin started a podcast called "Fridays with David". Listening to the episodes was and is both educational and very funny. It brought a smile to those of us who tuned in regularly to hear their banter.
David was as funny as he was kind; he was sarcastic and strong willed. He had a crazy sense of humor, amazing resilience as well as a real zest for life. He never let Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy define him and never complained. Although he would let you know that Duchenne sucks big time, he never let it get him down. He lived his Life with no regrets.
David is survived by his Mother Nadine, his Father David Sr and his dog. In addition to his many Aunts, Uncles, cousins and his best friend.
