David Horta

David Horta of West Palm Beach, Florida passed away at home unexpectedly on April 4th. He was the husband of Barbara (Hylek) Horta. They were married for 55 years. He was born in West Warwick, RI and lived in Warwick, RI before retiring and spending his winters in Florida. He was the son of the late Mariano and Virginia (Carvalho) Horta. Dave was a long time Teamster and retired from McLaughlin and Moran. He had been a member of the Warwick Police Department and also was a musician playing in local bands. In retirement he worked spring training assignments for his beloved Boston Red Sox. He is survived by his wife and three children, Brian Horta and his wife Bethany of Coral Springs Florida, Ronald Horta and his wife Carol of Foxboro, Massachusetts and Christine Kershaw and her husband Daniel of North Kingstown, Rhode Island. Dave leaves eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Dennis Horta and his wife Sandra of Warwick, Rhode Island. Dave enjoyed his summers in the beach community of Buttonwoods RI and will be missed by all that had the pleasure of calling him relative or friend.
