April 5, 1947 — September 6, 2023

DAVID PAUL BROSE David was born in Pittsburgh, PA on April 5, 1947, to Harry and Lorraine (Herder) Brose. He was an altar boy at St. Paul's Cathedral and graduated in 1965 from Central Catholic High School, Pittsburgh, PA. David joined the US Navy in Feb. 1967 and served proudly on the USS Enterprise CVN-65 for his entire enlistment. He did 2 tours of duty in Viet Nam and in Jan 1968 when the USS Pueblo was captured the "Big E" was re- routed from Viet Nam to No.Korea. On Jan 14, 1969 he helped fight the fire on the flight deck of the "Big E" when a chain reaction of bombs exploded while the ship was off the coast of Pearl Harbor, HI. When he was honorably discharged in Nov. 1970 he decided to come to Florida. He met his future wife, Joyce, in Oct. 1971 and they were married April 1972. David worked for the P.B. County Tax Collector for 35 years and he retired in 2007 as Director of Operations. He enjoyed the outdoors especially hiking with his brother, in the North Georgia Mountains. He went hunting with his friends to enjoy "being one with nature", but he was too kind hearted to kill anything. He loved his family and loved spoiling them. His greatest joys were his grandsons and his great-grandchildren. David is predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joyce Fulgham Brose, his daughter Amber Brose McKee and her husband Clint McKee. He is survived by his grandsons Tyler (Elizabeth) Pulchtopek, Clayton Sterling and Jason Sterling. His great-grandchildren Shane Pulchtopek, Lilly Pulchtopek and Connor Grayson. His brothers Daniel (Lynn) Brose and Kevin (Diane) Brose. His sisters Nancy (Bill) Woodring and Karen Adams. His aunts, Diann Redshaw and JoAn Budenholzer. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many friends who are like family. He will be greatly missed by all including the "band of brothers" he served with on the USS Enterprise.
