January 3rd, 2023 Daniel Waite Hooker, 65, passed away early Tuesday morning in his home in Royal Palm Beach, FL. Danny was born June 15th, 1957, in Rockford, IL to William and Janet Hooker. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Shari Hooker, as well as his 5 children Timothy Hooker, Jessica Hooker, Virginia Hooker, Katherine Hooker, and Samantha Hooker. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren Conrad Waite Hooker and Bastian Hooker, Ollie Horton, and Penelope Hooker. He will be missed dearly by his 4 siblings William Hooker, John Hooker, Timothy Hooker, and Virginia Anderson. Danny entered the Airforce right out of high school in April 1977 and served for 5 1/2 years until September 1982. He was stationed in Louisiana for 2 years and Germany for 3 years. He left as a Sergeant with medals and ribbons. He also was a Christian man, took his children to Church and was even a youth pastor at Cherry Valley United Methodist Church in 1996. From a young age, thanks to his father, he had a passion for the outdoors. His favorite thing to do was to spend time in the mountains camping, hiking, and being around the campfire with his family. His love for the woods and hiking was passed on to his children. Including a shared dream of one day hiking the Appalachian Trail. He loved cooking and baking. On his days off he enjoyed grocery shopping with his granddaughter, and then going home to make dinner for his family and watching Harry Potter. He was always ready to take his children and grandchildren to the park or on fun adventures. He had a love for sports. He was a Chicago Bears, Cubs, and Bulls fan. One of his favorite things to do while his children grew up was take them to the basketball courts. He was even a youth basketball coach for one of his daughters for 2 years. No matter what sport or activity his kids chose he supported them and did what he could to help them to succeed. Danny impacted Palm Beach County in a way that not many could. He is deeply loved by the City of Lantana where he managed the Old Key Lime House for over a decade. Almost every resident there could tell you of "Hooker". He moved on to own/manage Kickback in Wellington. Anywhere Danny worked he was loved for his tough love, humor, and perfection in his work. He would even pick up and drop off his employees if they needed it. No matter what it was Danny always went above and beyond. He was about as good as they come and was there for many. He is loved far and wide and will be missed by many.
