Damaris Esther Bayona, nee Torres, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 26, 2024. She was born on May 15, 1938, in Ponce, Puerto Rico to Juan and Celia Torres, later moving as a teenager to New Jersey. On August 20, 1960, Damaris married the love of her life and childhood friend, Fernando Bayona and they settled in Jersey City, New Jersey. Damaris was very active in her church with a strong belief in her faith. She volunteered, led Bible studies, was president of the women's group, taught Sunday school and worked as the Director of Day Care. Damaris had a passion for sewing. She would sew wonderful dresses and clothing, not only for herself but for anyone who asked without hesitation. She had a heart of gold and never feared being kind and having a conversation with a total stranger. Whether it was at the grocery store, the doctor's office, or the neighborhood, Damaris went out of her way to make sure she said hello to anyone and always wished everyone a blessed day. She is survived by her children, Fernando and Joselyn Bayona, Daughter-in-Law, Wilma Bayona, grandchildren, Joshua Castillo, Andrew Greenwood, Jillian Estevez and great grandchildren, Noah, Xavier, Xahaira and Eli. Viewing and Service will be held Sunday, November 3rd from 1pm to 4pm at Palms West Funeral Home in Royal Palm Beach, Fl. Damaris will be laid to rest with her husband, Fernando, on Wednesday, November 6th at 11am at the South Florida National Cemetery in Boynton Beach, Fl.
