Dale N. Maryfield, age 65 passed away from pancreatic cancer at 9:36 pm on the 11th of November 2023 in the arms of his husband of 33 years. He was born in Lebanon, Indiana, at 6:03 am on Wednesday, the 19th of March 1958 to Odus Lee and Phyllis Ann (Dillman) Maryfield. During his time in high school, he was a part of the high school concert band, jazz band and marching band playing baritone, tenor, and soprano saxophone. Dale traveled with the marching band when it was chosen to perform at the Walt Disney World Parade. He was awarded the school's letter of achievement and a four-year college scholarship from the state of Indiana on the 15th of May 1976. Dale graduated from Lebanon High School the 23rd of May 1976. On May 10th, 1981, he graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine with a degree of Bachelor of Science in public health administration. In February of 1978 he became a member of Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity. In august of 1985 he was certified as a preceptor administrator by the Indiana state board for health facility administrators. He worked as an administrator for health care facilities for nine years. In April of 1989 Dale moved to Delray Beach, Florida with "Andy" his black cocker spaniel and in 1990 he met his husband, S. Michael Ereshena. Dale became the influence for expanding Michael's then design firm and together they formed a corporation. "The special event resource and design group." Dale became vice president and director of operations with Michael as president and creative director. Together they grew the company into a well- oiled machine. Event sales sored and the company entered a new phase. The company went worldwide throughout the United States and Europe. Dale, Michael, and their talented staff designed and produced events in the embassies of New York and Washington DC as well as in various European cities including Barcelona and Berlin. Their wedding designs were featured in various magazines including "Weddings Unveiled," "Inside Weddings," "Florida Brides" and a book called "The Art of Celebration" In 2015 Dale and Michael sold the company and began a new chapter in their lives. In 2007 Dale and Michael formed a second corporation; "DME Ventures Inc", which became the parent company for other businesses that they would later own. DME Ventures Inc, Dba: The Captains Attic, antiques, and collectibles. They purchased a commercial building in northern Florida located near the river's edge, their summer home on the banks of the Saint John's River. Captains Attic became a retail store created to sell off the slightly used inventory from the special event resource and design group making room for the new inventory arriving each season. In addition, together they scoured the Appalachian Mountain communities as well as Vermont in an oversized van picking for the new store. Because the store was only open two days per month dale composed and sent a newsletter to over 600 groupies who flocked to each opening day. The newsletter included tips on the currant hot collecting trends as well as photos of the new inventory that would be available at the store's next opening. It was a lot of fun and a huge success for many years until they sold it in 2016 and relocated to North Carolina. In 2015 after the sale of the special event resource and design group dale was once again following his business and administrative skills and with Michael as the creative force, together they formed a third corporation. DME Ventures, LLC, (Investment Properties) Dale along with Michael began buying, renovating, staging, and selling properties in West Palm Beach, Dillard, GA and Highlands, NC for several years. DME Ventures Inc, Dba: Vogue," a modern home, gift, and garden store, located in Highlands, NC. Dale along with Michael scouted the area and purchased a commercial property on a street that overlooked the park. They designed and renovated the building for a new retail store. "Vogue Home Gift and Garden" While Michael was selecting and curating the new inventory Dale was busy setting up and monitoring a bar code system for the store's sales and inventory control. He also produced and recorded "Visit the shops on Carolina Way" A commercial for the local radio station describing the products offered in each shop on the street including "Vogue." The street became a must for locals and travelers alike. Having gotten their fill of mountain life and missing the ocean they decided to finally retire completely to palm beach where dale enjoyed playing competitive board games online, attending theater productions and along with Michael entertaining their many friends at home. Dale is survived by his husband Michael, Miss Burlesque Beagle, his sister Sally Hedges, and her husband Bill. Dale's remains will be cremated and spread at a location that is filled with fond memories for the both of them. A luncheon to celebrate Dale's life will be held by invitation at a later date.
