Constance "Connie" Ann Alexander

Connie Coenen Alexander January 4, 2021 The world lost a great friend and the heavens gained a world class amateur New Years' tap dancer on January 4 when Connie Coenen Alexander, 54, left her earthly pain behind and moved beyond the cancer she fought with unflinching dignity, courage and grace the last several years. Connie, of Royal Palm Beach, Florida is preceded in death by her father, Donald Coenen and Father-In-Law, Andrew Alexander, Jr. She is survived by her loving mother, Jackie Coenen; adoring mother in law, Navena Alexander; her beloved sons, Connor and Blake and her ever devoted husband, Drew. Connie was extremely close with her two sisters, their spouses and children: Deb Krabbenhoft (Kent) of Omaha, Nebraska and Julie Smallwood (Mike) of Shawnee, Kansas. Connie is also mourned by a veritable legion of adoring friends, and loyal customers of her popular business ''Everything Beaded" which is well known on the local arts and crafts circuit. The aforementioned friends and family will struggle with Connie's dying edict to only be remembered with light, love and laughter as opposed to tears which is completely on script with her life 'well lived'. Connie hailed from Harlan, Iowa but the balmy climate and tropical vibe of south Florida spoke straight to her restless, free-spirit and soon lured she and Drew to Royal Palm Beach in 1999. However, frequent pilgrimages to her beloved home state were made as recently as November where Connie was known to gather friends to catch a Harlan football game or nosh one of her favorite foods: Pizza Burgers. In Royal Palm, it did not take long for Drew and Connie to become the centerpiece of a large, adopted South Florida family that featured countless pool parties, cookouts, Jimmy Buffett 'Parrothead' functions, sporting events and concerts. Nearly annual trips to the Florida Keys and Key West have been another highlight, with Connie as 'social chairman' for the festivities, she led the charge through one of her favorite spots on earth and a good time was had by all. Connie's razor sharp wit and legendary sense of humor coupled with the natural born need to 'tell it like it is' and gentile nature made her the life of any social gathering and 'that friend' you ALWAYS want to hang around regardless of the festivities on tap. On very special occasions Connie was known to break out the tap shoes and treat her friends to an impromptu floor show that made for legendary laughs and memories cherished forever. They say when it's all said and done, life is about the memories and stories you can tell. Thanks to Connie, there are tons but they will pale due to the void left by her passing. But, we're not crying, Connie. Honest. She, more than anybody would insist that they be recognized for the critical, life altering work they do daily. One Final Note: Our 'social chairman' has gone and we are left to bravely forge ahead and invite you to an informal, socially distanced gathering for friends and family. There will be food, drink and music provided. At what would turn out to be her final large social gathering, Connie candidly (imagine that) told all that this was not to be a dreary and drab 'weep fest'. Instead, she asked for loud tropical prints, music, smiles, memories but most of all Laughter. Please join us if you are so inclined.
