Cleveland A. Lewis departed this life on June 10th, 2021, after a long illness. Cleveland Adolphus Lewis affectionately called 'Prendy, Mr. Lewis was born on 9/27/1940 to Emiline Rebecca Emsley-Williams & Egbert Alexander Lewis in Wooster District, St. James, Jamaica, West Indies. He attended John's Hall All Age School. As a youngster in school his favorite sport was Cricket. He was a spin bowler. From his early adult years, he lived in Montego Bay St. James. He was a plumber by trade. He worked at several locations while living in Jamaica. He worked at Montego Beach Hotel. He was a maintenance worker at Donald Sangster lnt'I Airport and then a baggage handler with Air Jamaica Airlines. His favorite pastime was playing dominoes. He travelled all over the island of Jamaica, competing in various domino tournaments. Mr. Lewis married in April 1974 and often travel back & forth to the USA, until he became a permanent resident in July 1981. Norwalk, CT became his new home. He worked several jobs to make ends meet. He worked at H.D. Caty, Norwalk Public School as a Custodian. He held several positions at Stew Leonard's, which grew to become not only the world's largest dairy store but one of the renowned grocery stores. Mr. Lewis married Sylvia Salmon in Jamaica in 1985. In 1990 he worked at Pepperidge Farm Bakery until his retirement in 2003. Shortly after he relocated to the Sunshine State of Florida. Cleveland was a very neat, dedicated, punctual & hardworking man. He was a strict disciplinarian who stress the importance of having a great education. He was always ready and willing to work. He possessed a sharp memory. Although, he had a speech impediment, it never stopped him from speaking to anyone. He had a friendly winning personality with a great sense of humor. Mr. Lewis also loved to play music. He was also a sport fanatic especially in basketball, wrestling & football. While living in Norwalk, CT., he became known as an avid domino champion. He earned the name 'Come See- Come Saw'. He took the game of playing dominoes very seriously that he would take no bathroom breaks, had no friends while playing. He literally would play all night until daylight. One of the first thing he did upon his relocation to West Palm Beach, Florida was to find a domino club (Club name-) As a competitor, he travelled extensively playing the game he so loved. He would take a one day trip from Florida to New York and back. He lived & breathed playing dominoes. Mr. Lewis also worked at Publix Grocery store for a short while. He made several trips to Norwalk CT. visiting family and friends and yes, playing a game of dominoes. On the evening of June 10t h, 2021, God closed Cleveland's eyes and eased him from all his pain and discomfort. We loved him...God loved him best. The Bible says 70 years...3 scores & 10 is allotted to man & the rest by reason of strength. Cleveland went into overtime and managed to go another 10 years and almost 9 months. We are thankful to Almighty God for the 80 plus years he loaned him to us. We loved him. God loved him best. Cleveland had many titles such as husband, dad, stepfather, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and of course a loyal friend to many. He loved his grandchildren and great grands, always encouraging them to work hard, study hard, save your money for a rainy day, own real estate and enjoy life to the fullest. Cleveland predeceased his dad, his mom, his stepmom (Viola Lewis) his younger brother Joseph A. Lewis and a step- daughter Carol. He leaves to morn his wife Sylvia, 7 children Neville( ), Joan(Bertland), Cleveland Jr 'Tony'(Donna), Bryan, Zetta (Michael), Robert 'Keith' and Janice 'Cissy', also 2 stepchildren Angela & Andrew, 2 sisters Linda Fisher & Francis Smith and 1 brother Martin A Lewis. 24 grandchildren & 13 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives & friends from all walks of life. We will always cherish the memories that we all have of Cleveland Adolphus Lewis and never forget the life lessons he taught us. He will surely be missed. MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE
