Christine Marie Scozzaro

June 9, 1938 — April 17, 2024

Christine M. Scozzaro (Watkins), 85, formerly a resident of Wellington, FL died peacefully of natural causes on April 17, 2024 at her home at The Atrium in Boca Raton, FL. Born on June 9, 1938 in Boston, MA to Pauline (Paduano) Watkins (d. 1999) and Gordon Watkins, Christine grew up in Medford, MA with her younger siblings Joyce (Watkins) Howarth, Gordon (Sonny) Watkins of Stoneham, MA, and Patricia Watkins (d. 2000) and was very close with her two Aunts Mildred Paduano (d. 1999) and Constance (Paduano) Denaro (d. 1997). She graduated from Medford High School as a member of the Class of 1956. After graduation, she worked as an office assistant at Bank of Boston in Boston, MA. She made a fateful decision to go on a blind date with a young man who was the cousin of her friend Agnes (Incatasiato) Wilson and described himself as a doctor at Mass General Hospital in Boston. That's when she met her charismatic husband John Scozzaro of Somerville, MA who was a laborer working on a construction project at Mass General at the time. They fell in love, were married on September 3, 1961 and Christine kept John on the straight and narrow for the next 59 years until his passing on August 17, 2020. Christine and John started a family and lived in Wilmington, MA until moving to Miramar, FL in 1980 to be near John's parents Mary G. Scozzaro (d. 1992) and Bennie Scozzaro (d. 1984) who had retired to Miramar, FL after residing for many years in Wilmington, MA. They raised their kids to cherish the Sunday family dinner with all their cousins at their grandparents' house where they would sit together eating multi-course Italian meals, chatting endlessly about the intrigues of the day, playing cards for pennies and eating again at the big table when evening fell. After Bennie and Mary passed, John and Chris expressed their love by hosting family dinners for their children, their childrens' families and their childrens' friends. All were welcome and appreciated. Christine and John are survived by their five children, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren: John and Lisa (Finelli) Scozzaro of Sanford, FL and their daughter Courtney Scozzaro and granddaughter Cecilia; Benny Scozzaro and his fiancee Amy Lingerfeldt of Harleysville, PA and Maureen (Romano) Scozzaro of Boynton Beach, FL and their son Nicholas Scozzaro and daughter-in-law Kimberly Scozzaro of Sarasota, FL and their sons Jack and Weston and their daughter Grace Scozzaro of Lake Worth, FL; Michael Scozzaro, a widower, whose husband Michael W. Wolfe passed away in 2011, currently living and working as an artist in Las Vegas, NV; Joseph Scozzaro and his wife Mariangela Marchio of Canton, MA and their children Anna, Jojoe, and Michael; and their loving daughter Lori Pilgrim and her husband Phillip Pilgrim and their sons Jackson and Lucas of Wellington, FL. She was very close with her niece Michelle (Howarth) Barasso and her husband Richard of Boca Raton, FL. She was a loving sister-in-law to Catherine Watkins of Stoneham, MA and auntie to Cathy and Sonny's children Paul Watkins of Lebanon, ME, Elisa (Watkins) Sweeney of Stoneham, MA, Colleen Watkins of Gloucester, MA and Jennifer Watkins (d. 1998) and auntie to Thomas Watkins. She was a loving sister-in-law to Carl (d. 2008) and Theresa (Jackson) Scozzaro and loving aunt to their three children: Carl and Laura Scozzaro of Dagsboro, DE, their daughters Gina Scozzaro of Philadelphia, PA, Kelli (Scozzaro) Brough of Hanover, PA and Brianna (Scozzaro) Aungst of Hanover, PA., Julie (Scozzaro) D'Ambrosio (d. 2018) and Kathleen (Scozzaro) Bucci (d. 2009). Services will be held at Palms West Funeral Home in Royal Palm Beach at 11:00 AM on Friday May 3, 2024 followed by burial service at The South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth at 12:30 PM where she will be reunited for eternity with her loving husband John.
