Christian "Ty" Jesus Hernandez

Christian Hernandez, affectionately known as Ty, was a kind-hearted young man who always sought to help others. He found joy in making people laugh and accepted everyone he met just as they were, he touched many people's lives during his time with us. He will always be remembered as a loving friend, brother and son and his memory will continue to live in our hearts. Ty's hobbies included writing music, farming, caring for animals, and Harry Potter. He was a 2009 graduate of Gainesville High School (Gainesville, GA) and a recipient of the Navy Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) Scholarship. Ty is survived by his mother and father, Peggy and Frank, and his two sisters and brother, Kristin (30), Christopher (25), and Katelynn (14). He is also survived by grandparents Paula Peaks, Don and Robin Peaks, Gloria Hernandez, and Dalida "Pura" Hernandez. In lieu of flowers: One of Ty's passions was volunteering to assist children with special needs and dreamt of one day opening a residential home to assist kids in the local community. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to a scholarship fund created in his memory to the Unicorn Village Academy, Boca Raton. This scholarship will allow students with special needs to develop functional academics, life skills, vocational training, and community living experiences at Unicorn Village Academy. The family will be notified of all donations made to his scholarship fund. Visitation will be held at Palms West Funeral Home from 5:45pm-8:00pm, a 30-minute service will begin at 7:00pm.
