Charles Ron Volk, "Ronnie" aka "Captain Ron", 74 died on June 19, 2023, after a short but valiant battle with cancer. Ron was born on September 24, 1948, in Wilmington, Delaware, but he grew up in Ft. Pierce Florida. Ron graduated from Dan McCarty High School, in 1968. He earned a degree from Indian River State College while working as lead lifeguard. Ron ultimately settled in Palm Beach County and made Royal Palm Beach his forever home. Ron is preceded in death by his mother Betty Lacey, grandfather, Ernest Lacey, grandmother, Ella Lacey, brother Leroy, "Lee" Robinson; aunts Peggy Robinson (Raymond), Helen Downward (Marcie); and niece Evon Maslar. He is survived by his wife, Terri Volk, daughter, Michelle Norris of West Palm Beach, FL; sons Ronnie Volk (Melissa) of Sarasota, FL, Michael Wells of Lake Stephens, WA; step-daughters Lauren Eggert and Brooke Weiner; sisters, Kathleen McGrath (Patrick) and Mary Jo Gage, both of Michigan; grandchildren, Rylee Volk, Maddox Volk, Avery Volk, Kaden Norris, Kali Norris Bailey Wells Savannah Wells, and Alex Cedeno; aunts Jane Hopkins (Dick), and Ernestine Cox (Jonah); sister-in-law Gail Robinson; nieces, Ashley DeFrain (Dan), Kyla Preissner (Max) Katherine Gage, nephews, James Gage, Maxwell McGrath, Jack McGrath, Joey McGrath, and many friends that over the years have become family. Ron and his brother Lee were raised by their grandparents, who years ago earned their angel wings partly for living through the wild and crazy antics of those two! Ron knew from an early age how to have fun and enjoy life to the fullest. He was a huge jokester, was rarely angry, always forgiving and spent his life making memories and sharing his stories. Ron will be remembered most for is his giving heart, kind soul, sense of humor and adventurous spirit. He did not know a stranger, was always willing to help his friends and family and often offered his home as a haven for loved ones down on their luck. Ron was truly one of a kind, and those who were lucky enough to know him were better for it. Ron was a United States Army Veteran who proudly served as part of the 1st Infantry Division. He fought in the Vietnam War and received many metals during his years of service including a Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal, Two Army Commendation Medals, Vietnamese Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Air Medal. While Ron was fiercely proud of his service to our country and his career in banking and finance, it was clear to all that the role he held most dear was that of a husband, parent and grandparent. It was a role he played to the hilt. He excelled at it. He made every effort to spend as much time as he could with those that he loved and enjoyed every second of it. Ron was a strong believer in exploring new places and having new experiences. He truly traveled the world. His wandering spirit took him to over 80 countries and all 50 states. He has now earned his angel wings and is flying high in search of his next adventure. A Celebration of Life will be held from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm at Palms West Funeral Home, 110 Business Park Way, Royal Palm Beach, FL 33411, burial to follow at the National Cemetery, 6501 FL-7, Lake Worth, FL 33449 at 1:30pm and a reception at Wrigley BBQ, 3208 Forest Hill Blvd., Palm Springs, FL 33406 at 3:00 pm.
