Charles Carlton King Jr Born December 24, 1944, in Key West, FL. Lost his battle with prostate cancer and earned his wings October 19, 2022. Chuck graduated from Key West High School in 1963 where he played basketball, football, and baseball. He held many records until they were broken over the years. Chuck worked for the United Postal Service in Key West for 23 years. He also worked at Key West Handprint Fabrics, The Department of Transportation in which he was a lead engineer and hands on in building the new 7-mile bridge. He also worked at CVS Pharmacy for 23 more years from which he retired due to his illness. Chuck has a passion for baseball. He coached little league baseball for multiple generations. Chuck loved to teach the kids the fundamentals of the game. He played in the men's softball league for many years from Bayview Park to Perry Court. Chuck was a family man; he loved his family. He loved to watch his kids and grandkids play sports from baseball to his granddaughters playing softball. Chuck is loved by his family and friends. He would have a conversation with anyone he encountered. He would say he is a Conch, and it was a Conch thing. He really loved people and his hometown. He always wanted to go back home. Charles is preceded in death by his mother, Fannie Mae Ingraham Riley, Stepfather, Benjamin Riley, and his sister Marsha DeMeza. Charles is survived by Rose Mulling, Children, Jennifer (Carl) Butler, Charles (Tammy) King. Michael (Fallon) Fisher, Christopher Fisher, Teresa (Ivan) Blanco, Terry (Jamal) Strayhorn, Brother Rory (Vickey) Riley of Pensacola, Sisters Sheri Primm, Lori Barker, and Bennie Jo Shaddix of Panama City. Brother-in-law Gerry DeMeza. His grandchildren, Brandon (Emely) Monnett, Victor (Taina) Basha, Kierstyn Sabedra, Matthew Fisher, Ryan (Julia) Fisher, Edwin Fisher, Justice McCright, Isabella Blanco, Liliana Blanco, Layla Blanco, Alexis Fisher, Lucas Fisher and great granddaughters Sophia and Teagan Monnett, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Service for Charles with be held at Palms West Funeral home, November 5, 2022, at 5 pm. A celebration of life with be held later in Key West, FL.
