Catherine Slater Brown, affectionately called "Mema", was born January 21, 1930 and passed away June 29, 2019 at the age of 89. She is the last survivor of her five siblings, brothers Billy, Buck and Mose and her sisters Barbara and Ginger. Catherine and her husband, John J. Brown, Sr. moved from Savannah, GA to Miami, FL in 1952 and raised their two sons, John Jr. "Jack", and Christopher. After the boys finished elementary school she started a 25 year career with the Dade County School Board. Catherine is blessed with six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren who made her very proud. She loved her family more than anything and we loved her and will miss her dearly. Catherine lived at NuVista Assisted Living in Wellington for last five years and met many new friends there. She loved all of the staff at NuVista….special thanks to Lisa and Sharon. Catherine was predeceased by her husband Jack of 64 years in 2014. She is survived by her sons Jack (Joanne), Chris (Diane) and her wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her very special niece, Margaret Mann, who she loved very much. Funeral Service this Friday, July 5 at Palms West Funeral Home, in Royal Palm Beach from 6:30PM to 8:30PM. She is now in heaven, reunited with her husband and her siblings. She will never be forgotten.
