Living for 106 years is nothing less than remarkable, each of us has been in awe that we were blessed with an amazing presence who had. We will forever cherish the memories of wisdom and love we shared in those moments. Carmita Guiteau was an extraordinary woman. Though 106 years of life is nothing short of a miracle, grandmére did more than live, she thrived. We have all been impacted by the magnitude of her legendary life. It was the life Carmita put into those years that made her life so momentous. We've all been charmed by her, scolded by her and loved by her. She's an icon for so many reasons from her brilliant eyes observing it all to her sweet scent that filled the air; her uncanny ability to say nothing, but hear everything... She was the beacon of the Guiteau family, always serving as a light and a guide for whomever needed it with her welcoming grin and tender embrace. Mere Guiteau was a legend and a mother to us all. Carmita was born in Port Au Prince, Haiti on September 26, 1911. She spent 50 years married to her beloved husband Hyppolite Guiteau. Together they raised seven children- Marie Ange Dodard, Yolaine Cadet, Antonine Whiteman, Gisele Guerrier, Jacques Guiteau, Jocelyn Guiteau and Fanfan Guiteau. She is survived by 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Carmita's legacy is one of strength and of family. To know her was a blessing. To be loved by her was a treasure. To remember her is a beloved gift. The beautiful light and warmth she embodied lives on in all of us.
