Carmen E. Vazquez

May 5, 1947 — September 7, 2022

Carmen Emilia Vazquez, 75-years-old, died on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at her oldest daughter's home in Loxahatchee, Florida. After her valiant fight with cancer, Carmen's battle resumed in August 2022, with a metastasized tumor that spread. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends, and many supporters carried her through her last month of life. Yet even throughout her own struggle with Cancer, she never gave up hope and her will to keep going. Carmen was born on May 5, 1947 in Buga, Colombia. The oldest of eleven kids to Rosa Elena Munoz and Julio Cesar Dominguez. Known for her ease in frequent conversation with even total strangers. Even as a child she possessed a contagious smile, an incredible amount of sass, and an entertaining sense of humor. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and faith. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and joking around, will never be forgotten. Married at 18 to Orlando Barreto, they raised two amazing kids, Maria Constanza Barreto and Carlos Eduardo Barreto. Carmen shaped them into the people they are today. She showed them to never give up despite several hardships, how to be kind to others, and how to cook a mean plate of food. In the eighties, she met her second husband, Julio Vazquez. With Julio, she had her other daughter, Stephanie Vazquez. She taught Stephanie how to be extra feisty, to read more in order to keep the imagination going, and how to always give people chances. With a real zest for life, Mrs. Vazquez loved to dance, drink her screwdriver after a long day, do word-searches, read, pray, talk daily with her family, make the most amazing food and white rice. Those that knew Carmen will remember her quick wit, her never being wrong, her cooking, her constant warmth, and her incredible sense of humor. She will be missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind her three children and their significant others, her three grandkids, grand pups, and her siblings. For now we will conclude this with one of her favorite sayings, ah bueno!
