Family was Carmen’s greatest joy.

Carmen LoBrutto, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully passed away in her sleep on July 7, 2026, in West Palm Beach, Florida. Born on July 2, 1933, in Puerto Rico, Carmen’s life was a vibrant tapestry woven with love, resilience, and dedication to her family.

Carmen was born and raised in Puerto Rico, where she spent her early years before journeying to New York in her early twenties. In New York, determined to build a fulfilling life, she taught herself English and embarked on a career at Kodak as a film developer. It was here that fate intervened, bringing Joseph LoBrutto Jr. into her life. Their chance meeting blossomed into a deep and enduring partnership. Joseph’s unique way of learning more about her, buying her a new pair of developing gloves to see if she wore a ring, sparked a love story that would define Carmen’s life. Together, they built a beautiful home in New York, welcoming two sons, before eventually moving their family to South Florida to begin a new chapter.

Known for her spirit, Carmen was determined and hardworking throughout her life. As a talented seamstress, she took immense pride in her craft. Her artistry with needle and thread was matched only by her passion for nurturing life in her garden. Carmen had a special gift for growing plants, ensuring there was always something beautiful and blooming, both inside and outside her home.

Family was Carmen’s greatest joy. She loved hosting her family, and weekends at her home were filled with laughter, shared meals, and faces gathered around the back porch and pool. While she had a beautiful dining room, it was the porch—where she’d often sit in her favorite chair watching the birds flit among the trees and across the lake—that became the setting for cherished memories. Carmen’s warmth and hospitality brought people together, and the simple moments spent in her presence became treasures for all who knew her.

Carmen’s legacy continues through her loving family. She is survived by her sons, Joseph LoBrutto III and Robert LoBrutto ; her granddaughters, Ashley LoBrutto and Jessica Holzapple; her grandson, Adam LoBrutto; and Jennifer, wife of Joseph. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Joseph LoBrutto Jr., and her beloved grandson, Todd LoBrutto.

Those whose lives were touched by Carmen will remember her loving nature, her strength, and the steadfast care she gave to those around her. She found happiness in life’s most heartfelt connections and in the simple beauty she cultivated in her home and garden.

A burial service to honor and celebrate Carmen’s life will be held on July 23, 2026, at 1:30 p.m., at the South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 FL-7, Wellington, FL 33449.
