Calogera DiGrande passed away peacefully with her family at her bedside on October 11, 2007 at Hospice of Palm Beach County. Born in Enfield, CT on January 20, 1916 to Domenico and Maria Migliore of Naro, Sicily. After the sudden death of her father at age two, she and her mother returned to Sicily. She married Domenico DiGrande in 1939 and had five children in Sicily. Wishing to give her childr en the opportunities that America had to offer, she returned to the US in 1954 with her eldest daughter Josephine and yet to be born daughter Patricia. In 1955, the family was reunited in Yonkers NY where they resided for 16 years before moving to Copiague, NY. They moved to Royal Palm Beach in 1982. Prior to her death, she lived with her daughter Patricia and son-in law, Michael DeRosa in Wellington, FL. Calogera was the beloved mother of Josephine Ciuffetelli, Marie, Carmine, Silvana Cabibbo, Adriana and Patricia DeRosa (Michael) and grandmother to Steven, Frank Ciuffetelli (Naomi), Tina Sanchez (Alvaro), Laura Sabatini (John), Donna Kappes (Phillip), Barbara, John Cabibbo (Tiffany); Joseph (Aimee), Jessica Cabibbo, Michael and Michelle DeRosa and seven great grand children. She was preceded in death by her husband Domenico and her daughter Josephine. Calogera will be dearly missed by her family and friends. A visitation will be held on Monday, October 15 from 7-9 PM with a wake service at 8:30PM at the funeral home. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady Queen of the Apostles at 100 Crestwood Blvd, Royal Palm Beach. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County or the American Heart Association.
