Byron R. Payne of Wellington, FL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at the age of 59. He was surrounded by his loving family, who will miss him immeasurably. Byron was born in Clearwater, FL, on September 3, 1964, to the late Joseph L. and Bobbie Jean (Masters) Payne. He was an avid outdoorsman, a lifelong Miami Dolphins and Miami Hurricanes football fan, a talented carpenter, and an incredible "fixer" of anything not working. Byron's family was the most important part of his life, and he loved them unconditionally. He is survived by the love of his life, Cheryl (McMahon) Payne, to whom he was married for 34 years. He leaves behind his daughters, who he cherished, Kayli M. Plaia (Charlie) of Wellington, FL, Jaclyn R. Payne of North Palm Beach, FL, and Taylor M. Payne of Wellington, FL; his grandchildren, who always made him smile, Madeline G. Plaia, Salvatore "Luke" Plaia, and Benjamin C. Plaia; his brothers, who shared his love of football, Gregory K. Payne (Tracy) of Dallas, GA and Shawn K. Payne (Shanon) of Longmont, CO; and his brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family who loved him as much as he loved them. The family would like to thank everyone for all of the heartfelt messages of support they have received, the incredibly caring staff at Trustbridge Hospice Care who respectfully provided Byron's care, and Palms West Funeral Home for their guidance and service at such an emotional time in our lives.
