Beverley June Ginn, 89, of Wellington, Florida, and Manchester, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026. She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Ginn, daughter Lisa Ginn, and sons Robert and David.
Beverley was born on June 26, 1936. Her father, Dallas William Mallard, worked as a Commercial Artist and Art Director, and her mother, Dorcas Powell Horton, was a Registered Nurse. She grew up in Summit, New Jersey. Her early years were dominated by the Second World War, with its gas and food rationing, blackout shades pulled down at nightfall, and every evening she and her younger sister, Marjorie, were forbidden to speak while Edward R. Murrow was on the radio.
She attended Kent Place School, which she adored. Her true passion, though, was horseback riding. She rode in scores of horse shows, and the best thing on earth was winning ribbons. Tragically, her father passed away after a lengthy illness when she was sixteen. The loss stayed with her for all her years.
After graduating from Centenary College, she and her best friend moved to Boston, where she found a job as a Foreign Editor at Little Brown and Co. Early on, she shared a tiny one-bedroom apartment on Beacon Hill with three other young women. “No, I didn’t think four girls sharing a bedroom was strange at all,” Bev said. “It was fun.”
She met the love of her life, Bob Ginn, on a blind date at Bowdoin College. “I was crazy about him, ready to get married, he never stood a chance,” she would say with a smile. They were married in 1959 and had three children in short succession. “I was never happier than when I had little babies.” Bev often said.
Eventually settling in Manchester, she enjoyed her life of carpooling, helping at Shore School, and volunteering at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Beverly Farms, where she served on the vestry and helped run the church school. She loved summer days on Singing Beach or by the pool at Essex County Club with her children. She delighted in sailing her green Rhodes 19, Rolida. She enjoyed Ladies Sailing at the Manchester Yacht Club immensely and liked the weekend races, where her goal was not to finish last. She loved entertaining, and her huge Christmas Eve Parties for all her friends were so much fun. Come spring, the family had epic vacations in the Bahamas, on Treasure Cay, where she and Bob eventually bought a home.
After her kids had grown, she returned to riding. This led to a home in the very horsey town of Wellington, Florida. She loved caring for her horse, mucking out stalls, and riding with her trainer. Horse shows followed, and her Condo was soon lined with ribbons.
In her later years, she loved her Book and Garden Clubs but was plagued by mobility issues that greatly slowed her down. The loss of her younger sister, Marjorie, hit very hard.
Though her family was always the center of life and brought her so much joy, she had a special bond with her animals. Half a dozen rabbits, more cats than you can count, three horses, Tribute, My Pal Tal, and a failed racehorse named Willow, and seven dogs, including her beloved childhood Cocker Spaniel, Tippy, her Collie, Mildie, whom she moved to Boston with, and her cherished Little Bear, a gentle Newfoundland whose old collar and tags she placed under her mattress and slept over every night.
A celebration of her life will be held at a future date.
