Bernard Wiles Obituary With great sorrow, we mourn the loss of a great Dad and person, Bernard Wiles, who passed away on January 24, 2016 at the age of 96. Bernie was born on May 24, 1919 in Mountaindale, NY to the parents of Myers and Ester Dorfman Wilenchik. He proudly served his county in the United States Army in World War II. He was eventually stationed at Camp Murphy Army Base in Martin County, which is now known as Jonathan Dickinson State Park. While there, he met the love of his life, Nellie Frances Murray. They were married December 4, 1943 in Silver Springs, FL then settled in West Palm Beach, FL where he built his own home and started his own company, Blazes A/C & Sheet Metal. For the last 35 years of his life, he was a Volunteer in Education and a Historian of the Spanish Explorations of 1400-1600's, specializing in the Columbus expeditions. He designed and built scale-model wooden Spanish Galleon replicas from scratch. He displayed his artistic masterpieces, and other artifacts, throughout Palm Beach County Schools, libraries, local Government facilities, and at his personal Columbus Museum in West Palm Beach for the public to enjoy at no expense to anyone but himself. His great joy was helping children experience the Columbus explorations through his displays and teachings. Bernie was survived by his brother Dr. Jack Wiles, his two sons Mel Wiles and wife Carol, Jerry Wiles and wife Betsy, two Grandsons Steven and Bryan, and three Great Grand-daughters Marissa, Vanessa and Ariel. He will be laid to rest next to his wife Nellie at Woodlawn Cemetery in West Palm Beach. Palms West Funeral Home, of Royal Palm Beach, FL, will provide a gathering for Family and friends at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1201 S. Dixie Hwy, West Palm Beach, FL for a Graveside Service on January 29, 2016 at 1:00 PM. A Life Tributes page is also available online at www.palmswestfuneralhome.com/obituaries/Bernard-Wiles. We miss you Dad. May you rest in peace.
