Barbara Raines

March 4, 1959 — May 5, 2014

Barbara Raines, 55 of West Palm Beach, slipped the surly bonds of earth to touch the face of God and entered eternal life on May 5, 2014. Barbara was a beautiful woman who was amazingly strong and was the epitome of courage. Her easy going way and charm brought joy and happiness to all who were blessed to cross her path. Even during her courageous second battle with breast cancer, Barbara maintained an incredibly upbeat attitude and managed to smile and laugh for the comfort of others. Barbara had a distinguished and rewarding career in the financial industry in Palm Beach County spanning over 30 years. Her presence will be sorely missed. Barbara's spirit will live on through her loving husband of 34 years, Jerry Ruic Raines, son Jason R. Raines, mother Margaret Zabovnik, twin sister Ann Argenta (Christopher), brothers Richard I. Zabovnik (Louella), Roger P. Zabovnik, mother-in-law Rita C. Carr, brother-in-law Raymond S. Carr (Barbra), sister-in-law Ruth Zabovnik, uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephew, and many, many friends. Barbara was predeceased by her father, Richard J. Zabovnik, brother Patrick E. Zabovnik, father-in-law Raymond F. Carr, and brother-in-law John V. Raines. Barbara will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Barbara's family would like to thank her medical oncologist, Dr. Daniel Spitz, his wonderful staff, and all the members of the Hospice Silver Team for their excellent and compassionate care. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Christ Fellowship's Smith Chapel, 5312 Northlake Blvd. in Palm Beach Gardens on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Barbara's memory to Hospice of Palm Beach County.
