Barbara Macfarlane

August 20, 1942 — February 6, 2024

Barbara was, it is sad to say. She no longer is, and it darkens the day for those she left behind. She was born August 20, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois. She was daughter to Josephine and William Giltzow, and older sister to George, who are now welcoming her home. She was a mother of three, grandmother of six, and great-grandmother of four. She showed her love, not always through words but with actions. Somehow always knowing when we needed her, even before we did. Always taking care of us. Always there for us. She was a single mom who went back to school. She earned a bachelor's degree, became a CPA and a CFO, working in Chicago with a view of Millennium Park. Barbara was a devout Catholic who served her parish in Bartlett, Illinois, as a Eucharistic minister. Her faith guided her life, giving her comfort, joy, and peace until the very end. She was someone who always, always put her family first. Always generous with her time and her pocketbook. Always making us our favorite meal or buying us our favorite treat. Always wanting to do the best for us. Although she may not be of this earth any longer, Barbara will be remembered by her friends and family as someone very special, very strong, very caring. She will live on through the goodwill she bestowed, the lives she has touched, and the love we feel for her always.
