In Memoriam Barbara Legname January 16, 1946- March 11, 2015 Barbara Legname: longtime employee, cherished colleague and dear friend The Long Island Association community lost a special friend and colleague on March 11, 2015 when Barbara Legname, Vice President and an LIA employee for 38 years, passed away. Barbara started the LIA Events department and her passion and dedication helped elevate LIA events into prominent, must-attend gatherings for the business community to hear from national and international leaders. She transformed the ordinary business luncheon into what CNN considers "a popular stop for former Presidents and White House hopefuls". Barbara is also credited with organizing the LIA Annual Awards Gala which is one of Long Island's largest and most prestigious formal events, honoring leaders that have made Long Island a better place to live and work. The LIA and all of Long Island will not be the same without "Barb", a leader with a tenacious spirit and a large heart will be greatly missed and fondly remembered. A memorial fund has been established at the Long Island Community Foundation (LICF). For expressions of sympathy, and in lieu of flowers, you may consider a charitable donation to this fund. A funeral service is scheduled for March 21st at St. Patrick's Church 400 Main St, Huntington, NY 11743 at 9:30am. A reception will be held immediately following at the Crest Hollow Country Club.
