Barbara G. Lanshe was born on Jul 27, 1958 to Richard J. Lanshe & Rosemary J. Lanshe. She was raised in Western New York, never to be confused with Upstate New York. Barbara relocated to Florida as a teenager. She graduated from Nova University in 1983 and was a member of the inaugural class of St. Thomas University School of Law in 1987. Barbara was a real lawyer's lawyer. She would often cite Latin legal terms, case law, and statutes from memory. She was fearless! Her litigation skills were unparalleled. She prepared for trial tirelessly and then enamored the jury effortlessly with her naturally likeable disposition. Barbara dedicated her legal career to helping others. She saved the homes of countless indigent clients during her time at Legal Services of Greater Miami. Even in private practice, she was always willing to help those seeking assistance. No case was too difficult; no legal argument too novel. In more recent years, Barbara worked to help abused and neglected children in foster care while working in the dependency court system. She continued to give of herself throughout her entire legal career. But what those around her will tell you is that Barbara was a teacher first and foremost. Dozens of attorneys and hundreds of paralegals had the good fortune to be mentored by Barbara. With her blue pen in hand, she would edit your pleading, memorandum, or letter with ease. She was extremely generous with her time, always willing to listen and advise, so long as you did your research and suggested a solution before entering her office. She left all of her mentees with little nuggets of knowledge to which they could refer back year after year. Barbara's legacy as a teacher lives on in the work of her mentees. Barbara loved fiercely. She loved her friends, her family and of course, Neil Diamond. She was what she called a "2:00 o'clock in the morning friend"- loyal, supportive and unwavering. She was loved tremendously by everyone whose life she touched and will be missed greatly by her friends and family.
