Babs R. Grant, sixty- five years of age, a long time resident of southern Florida, passed away on July 8, 2021. She was born and raised in Guyana. As a child, Babs was an avid reader. She excelled in school, earned her degree at Teacher's College and became a beloved teacher in Diamond. Babs emigrated to the United States in the early 1980s in search of a more fulfilling life. She lived with her sister and other family in Brooklyn, New York. There, she would meet and marry the love of her life, Winston Grant. Their marriage lasted over thirty years and they were often inseparable. Babs also accepted the calling to become a nurse. It was the perfect career for her kind, generous and sunny disposition. She loved her work so much that she often kept in touch with patients and colleagues years later. Babs then moved to southern Florida to raise her family and continue her career. She was devoted to both. Babs was a creative spirit. She enjoyed decorating the house, often building unique furnishings and hunting for treasured fabrics. She loved listening to music. She loved giving. Her talent was making people feel needed and good. Babs' deep love and caring for family and others was rooted in her love for Jesus Christ. She would pray for others on a daily basis. Babs is survived by her husband, Winston Grant, her children, Simone Chan, Jonathan Grant and Jason Grant; Her siblings, Sattie Williams, Teekaram Persuad (Dolly), Susan Lall and Sundri Khelewan (Jairam); Her nieces and nephews, Andre Williams, Sharon Willams, Yonette Persaud, Nigel Persaud, Karen Lombardi, Ryan Khelewan and Rhonda Khelewan as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who became family. Babs is predeceased by her father, Bindraban Maraj and her mother, Subhadra Maraj.
