Arline Mary (McMullen) Salois, age 96, passed peacefully on April 16, 2023, Divine Mercy Sunday in West Palm Beach, FL surrounded by her loving children. Arline was the wife of Normand J. Salois, who died in 2004. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Ada McMullen, and the sister of the late Phyllis Policastri, Walter McMullen, and Rita McMullen. Arline graduated from Holy Ghost College in Cambridge, MA after completing high school and worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for many years at St. Joseph's Hospital Fatima Unit, Pine Harbor School, and Zambarano Hospital, all located in RI. After she and Normand moved to FL, she continued her nursing profession as a private duty nurse for several years until her retirement. She was a devoted daily communicant of Our Lady Queen of the Apostles Church, and enjoyed volunteering on many church committees. She served as president of the Legion of Mary, was a religious education teacher, a member of the rosary makers group, altar vessel cleaners, choir, and a daily Mass lector. She participated in the Crafty Ladies group, creating all manner of yarn crafts, crocheting blankets, hats, and preemie outfits for her church and local community donations, as well as crocheting baby blankets for her beloved family. She was devoted to her Catholic faith and prior to getting married, was a novitiate in the Sisters of Mercy and Franciscan religious orders. Arline had a wonderful circle of friends and in her later years, was always busy crocheting or working on her word search puzzles and adult coloring books. Pictures and stories cannot fully capture all that she was, but our hearts and families will carry forward the beauty and kindness of her loving soul. Arline is also survived by eight of her eleven children: Therese Loranger of Saunderstown, RI; Michael (Carol, deceased) Salois of Palm Bay, FL; Mariann (James) Cooke of Pascoag, RI; Thomas (Paulette) Salois of Royal Palm Beach, FL; Eugene (Deborah) Salois of Ashburnham, MA; Arline (Robert "Deacon Bob") Laquerre of Royal Palm Beach, with whom she resided; Donna (Michael) Salois-Sousa of Norton, MA; and Rose (Steven) Carpenter of North Grosvenordale, CT. She was predeceased by three of her children: Normand Salois, Jr., of Pascoag, RI; Suzanne (Marois) James and Mark Salois, both of Royal Palm Beach, FL. Arline leaves behind a legacy of 36 grandchildren and 56 (and counting) great-grandchildren, her remaining sister-in-law, Constance Audette, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Visitation hours will be held at Palms West Funeral Home, 110 Business Park Way, Royal Palm Beach, FL 33411, on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, from 6:00-9:00 PM with wake prayer service at 7:00 PM.
