He attended the Jesuit primary school and high school in Sagua, where he developed a love for sports, particularly swimming and baseball. He often spoke fondly of spending his summers in Varadero Beach with friends and family. Antonio graduated from the University of Havana with a degree in Electrical Engineering where he met his future wife, Melba Quintero. They married on July 16, 1955, and later began their family in Cuba with the arrival of Patricia and Antonio Jr. Shortly after the Cuban revolution began, they immigrated to the United States and settled in South Florida, where they welcomed three more children: Melba, Daniel, and Adrian. Antonio enjoyed a successful career in Electrical Engineering, working for Okeelanta Sugar Mill and later spending 33 years at U.S. Sugar Corporation in both the Pahokee and the Clewiston plants. He made significant contributions in his profession and earned the respect of his colleagues. Outside of work, Antonio had a wide range of interests and hobbies. He was passionate about reading, music, travel, art, and spending time with his family. Antonio's dedication to education was evident, as he proudly supported and put all five of his children through college, believing that education was something no one could take away. Antonio will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and ability to bring joy to those around him. His great sense of humor and warm smile could always lighten the mood, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A funeral service to honor and celebrate Antonio's life will be held on March 23, 2024 at 2pm, at Our Lady Queen of Peace, where he will be interred next to his beloved wife, Melba. May the memories and love shared with Antonio forever hold a special place in our hearts. May his soul rest in peace.
