Anthony P. (Tony) DeStefano, 75, of Delray Beach Fl, formerly of Clifton and Jersey City, NJ died at home surrounded by his loving family on November 25, 2011. Son of the late Filomena (nee Sorrentino) and Joseph DeStefano, he was born on April 2, 1936. Anthony was a Teamster for 30 years as a driver for Local 560 in Union City, NJ before retiring in 1993. He moved to Delray Beach in 2002 with his wife where he lived the rest of his life. Anthony proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp as Staff Sergeant. In addition to his service he was a 30+ year member of the Knights of Columbus for Councils 137 and 13338 respectively where he served as Grand Knight. He was also Past Faithful Navigator for the 4th degree of Assembly 642 and Past District Deputy for the New Jersey State Council. Anthony was also involved with the Boy Scouts of America and the Special Olympics. He was President of the Pines of Delray Men's Club and a member of the Board of Directors. A devout Catholic, he was a parishioner of Emmanuel Catholic Church in Delray Beach where he facilitated many activities and dinners under the guidance of the Knights of Columbus. Anthony was always available to help someone or support many of the organizations and their functions. He was a proud cook and loved being in the kitchen providing for others. Anthony will mostly be remembered as a devoted family man who always put his wife and children first. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol (nee Rotondaro). They were blessed to have celebrated 49 years of marriage this past June. He will be greatly missed by his six children and their families, Anthony and Janet of Wayne, NJ, Geraldine and Douglas Babb of Lake Worth, Steven and Jacqueline of West Orange, NJ, Georgianna and the late Anthony Dziaba of West Palm Beach, Joseph and Carmella of Sarasota, and Michael and Danielle of Woodland Park, NJ.. He was a loving grandfather to Ariana, Kathryn, Alexis, Dylan, Briana, Gianna, Nicholas and the late Angelina. He is predeceased by his brother Joseph and a loving brother to his sister Camille. He was the dear brother-in-law of Lorraine and Peter Pambello, Olivia and Frank Verdiramo and Elizabeth and Anthony Branda. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
